Lou practices in administrative law and civil litigation with an emphasis on property-related matters in connection with major energy and public infrastructure projects.
Lou represents and advises public corporations and agencies, municipalities, landowners, developers, landlords and tenants, on real estate and other commercial matters involving:
- Expropriations;
- Property acquisition and disposition;
- Transit-oriented development;
- Land use planning;
- Commercial leasing; and
- Disputes concerning property valuation and fair compensation.
Lou has acted as counsel in proceedings before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He also appeared in regulatory proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board and in expropriation proceedings before the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Board of Negotiations and private arbitrators.
Prior to joining BLG, Lou held senior legal and business leadership positions in the energy, financial services and public transit infrastructure sectors, with a focus on real estate, construction and dispute resolution.
