As a Summer Law Student, Avneet is assisting lawyers on a wide variety of tasks within our Business and Disputes groups.
Prior to attending law school, Avneet received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology with Distinction, as well as a Certificate in Legal Studies from Simon Fraser University and worked for a large national bank.
During Avneet’s first year of law school, she was the 1L Representative in the UVIC Law Student’s Society, where she advocated for the needs of her cohort, planning many events, including the Orientation Week for the incoming cohort. During the summer after Avneet’s first year, she worked as the Summer Law Student for the Justice Education Society, a public resource that educates individuals on various legal procedures and processes. In this role, she was operating the AskJES Helpline, answering and responding to live chats and tickets from individuals all over BC with law-related questions. In her second year of law school, Avneet was an executive member of the UVIC South Asian Law Students’ Association, planning events to help law students make connections and form a network.
Avneet chose BLG after having many positive first interactions with various members of the firm. Avneet knew the team was extremely welcoming and inclusive and would be an excellent place for her to get the necessary mentorship and opportunities to help her legal career thrive. Avneet was drawn to BLG because of the firm’s wide range of practice areas and opportunities they provide to further hands-on training opportunities for students and lawyers.
Avneet loves travelling and hopes to travel much more soon. In her spare time, you can find Avneet trying new restaurants, cafes, and dessert spots around the city, hiking beautiful BC trails, or loudly cheering on her favourite hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks.
