Valérie Olivier is a member of BLG’s Corporate Commercial Group. Her practice focuses on corporate and financial transactions, with a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure projects and corporate finance.

Valérie's practice includes:

  • Acting for vendors, purchasers and other stakeholders in connection with divestitures and acquisitions.
  • Advising on corporate/commercial transactions, including corporate reorganizations and combinations.
  • Acting for bidders and successful bidders in infrastructure projects.

Valérie was both a summer student and an articling student at BLG before returning as an associate in 2019.

Experience

  • Acted for Accelleron (SWX: ACLN) in its acquisition of True North Marine, a digital service provider specialized in weather routing and voyage optimization for the marine industry.
  • Represented Porsche and Incharge Capital in their investments in AI company Waabi
  • Represented Telesat in $2.54B funding agreement (for its subsidiary, Telesat LEO Inc.) for its broadband satellite constellation.
  • Advised Leidos Holdings, Inc. on Canadian matters in connection with its US$380 million acquisition of Gibbs & Cox.
  • Advised The New York Times on Canadian matters in connection with its US$550 million acquisition of The Athletic.
  • Advised Patient Square Capital L.P., Elliott Investment Management L.P., and Veritas Capital Fund Management, L.L.C. in its $7.1bn acquisition of Syneos Health, inc.
  • Advised Marlin Equity Partners in its take-private acquisition of Meltwater.
  • Acted for Financière Artelia Canada Inc. in its acquisition of FNX-Innov.
  • Acted for National Bank SME Growth Fund L.P., Desjardins Capital PME S.E.C. and Capital Régional et Coopératif Desjardins in their acquisition of P.H. Tech inc.
  • Acted for National Bank SME Growth Fund L.P. in its acquisition of Les Emballages GAB ltée.
  • Acted for National Bank SME Growth Fund L.P. in its acquisition of CVTech-IBC inc.
  • Acted for Norea Capital I, S.E.C. in its acquisition of Services linguistiques Versacom Inc.
  • Acted for 4473116 Canada Inc. (Bota Bota) in its sale to 14694597 Canada Inc. (Partenaires Walter Capital Inc.).
  • Acted for CB Process ULC (Flow Control Group) in its acquisition of the Central Air Equipment group.
  • Acted for Flowmetrix Technical Services inc. (Flow Control Group) in its acquisition of AMG Environmental Inc.
  • Acted for CB Process ULC (Flow Control Group) in its acquisition of Sego Canada Inc. and de Southern Rewind Inc.
  • Acted for Revision Military Inc. and its affiliates in its the carve-out and sale of its global military eyewear business.
  • Acted for BDC Capital’s Deep Tech Venture Fund in connection with its equity investment in Nord Quantique.
  • Acted for BDC Capital’s Deep Tech Venture Fund and Celesta Capital in connection with their equity investment in Stathera.
  • Acted for Inovia Capital inc. in connection with its equity investment in Novisto inc.
  • Acted for the successful bidder for the design, construction and financing of senior homes and alternative homes in the region of Saguenay-Lac St-Jean.
  • Acted for the successful bidder for the design, construction and financing of senior homes and alternative homes in the regions of Laval, Laurentian and Lanaudière.
  • Acted for the successful bidder on the design, construction and financing project for the Brampton courthouse in Ontario and the related detention centre.
  • Acted for the successful bidder in the design, build and finance project for a group of four high schools.
  • Acted for the successful bidder in the design, build and finance project for a new hospital in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
  • Acted for Renouveau La Fontaine inc. and Renouveau La Fontaine C-C s.e.n.c. in the design, build and finance project for major repair work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, as well as other related work and its refinancing.
  • Acting for a qualified bidder in the design, build, finance and maintenance project for the Quebec tramway project (underway 2022-2023).
  • Acting for a qualified bidder in the design, build, finance and maintenance project for the new roof of the Montreal Olympic Stadium.
