Haig is highly skilled and experienced in the field of dispute resolution and commercial arbitration representing international clients. With over 30 years of experience as counsel, arbitrator and mediator in over 100 matters, he has assisted international clients across a range of areas, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, license agreements, construction and engineering, oil & gas, financial institutions, compliance issues, anti-dumping and general corporate, commercial and trade law matters.

He has appeared as counsel before and sat as an arbitrator on panels and arbitration tribunals across Europe, Asia and the Americas, and has experience in arbitral venues that include the ICC, WIPO, JCAA, SIAC, LCIA and ICDR.

Prior to joining BLG, Haig practiced at large Canadian and International law firms, and acted as General Counsel, Special Advisor and Vice-Consul in government and industry, and as a diplomat for the government of Canada. He has taught at the University of Tokyo, University of Rikkyo and University of British Columbia faculties of Law. He is fluent in English, French, and Japanese.
