As a registered patent and trademark agent, Richard strategically advises clients on obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights around the world.

With over two decades of experience, Richard’s impressive IP practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights and trade secrets. Richard has drafted and prosecuted patent applications covering a wide range of technology, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, electronic, optical and computer-related inventions.

Richard provides patentability, registrability, validity and freedom to operate searches and opinions, coordinates prosecution across multiple jurisdictions, and manages IP portfolios.

In addition, Richard provides strategic counselling regarding enforcing infringement of intellectual property rights and defending against claims of infringement, conducts IP due diligence in the context of proposed mergers and acquisitions for both acquiring entities and those being acquired, and negotiates and drafts technology transfer agreements, joint development and collaboration agreements, license agreements and other technology-related agreements.
