Laura is a construction lawyer and surety lawyer. She represents surety bonding companies, owners, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and financial institutions.
Laura previously trained and worked in civil engineering prior to becoming a lawyer. In engineering, she worked on site on commercial, municipal, mining, energy, transit, and aggregate projects across Canada.
As a lawyer, Laura provides prompt, practical, and strategic advice to clients. She advises clients through the lifespan of a construction project. She advises on procurement and contract negotiation and drafting. She also represents clients with their surety and construction disputes. She has advised clients on disputes before Independent Certifiers and represented clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation. She has appeared at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Laura is an appointed Member-at-Large of the Canadian Bar Association’s Construction and Infrastructure Law Executive. She has taught the Surety and Construction Law course for the Surety Association of Canada’s Associateship of Canadian Surety Bonding Designation (ACSB) Program since 2019.
