Clara Chow specializes in securing our clients'
trademark protection, domestically and internationally, and advising on exploitation and
infringement of trademarks. She regularly prepares and prosecutes trademark applications and prepares opinions on availability, registrability, validity and infringement. She also counsels clients on
copyright registration and protection, as well as other
intellectual property disputes.
Her work not only includes providing strategic counsel and support on the essential foundation of trademark matters in Canada, but also managing complex opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Clara's practice also extends to advising on websites, online and mobile sales, marketing programs and online IP protection to her clients as well as commercial regulatory work, such as the
Charter of the French Language.
Prior to joining BLG, Clara worked in a boutique firm in intellectual property. She is a member of various associations, namely the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and the International Trademark Association (INTA). Within INTA, Clara is member of the Amicus Curiae Canada subcommittee, where members provide their expertise about trademark and other IP-related laws to courts and trademark offices in Canada through the submission of amicus curiae briefs.
Clara practices in both English and French, speaks fluently Cantonese and converses in Mandarin.
