Toronto (July 9, 2024) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce a senior leadership appointment that will strengthen the firm’s ranks.
Effective July 1, Patricia (Trish) Morrison, previously BLG’s National Business Leader for construction, has been appointed as the National Group Head of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Construction Group for a three-year term. Trish succeeds David Di Paolo, who will continue as a partner in the Disputes Group. Trish will co-lead the firm’s litigators with Graham Walker, who is the National Group Head for Specialized Disputes.
“Since 2018, I’ve had the privilege of working with our industry leading team as the National Business Leader of our Construction Group,” said Trish. “Stepping into this new role is an opportunity to tackle new challenges with our talented disputes team and continue to deliver great results for our clients.”
Trish has extensive experience in the mediation, arbitration, and litigation of construction disputes on large-scale commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. Her leadership and expertise has earned her significant recognition, including being named a King’s Counsel (K.C.) in Alberta.
“Trish’s leadership abilities are truly outstanding, as demonstrated by a very successful practice, particularly in the construction and infrastructure industries which are pivotal to Canada’s economic growth,” said John Murphy, BLG’s CEO and National Managing Partner. “Her strategic thinking, approachable style and experience in complex disputes will be of tremendous benefit to BLG clients and our disputes team on matters that shape the future of our country.”
BLG’s Group Heads have overall responsibility for setting strategy and direction, financial performance, and client experience of their respective national practice groups. They sit on the firm’s National Management Committee and play a key role in the overall management of the firm.
