National (October 11, 2023) – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP was pleased to congratulate Éloïse Gratton and Nadia Effendi for winning the 2023 Women in Law Leadership (WILL) Stronger Together Award for Québec and Ontario, respectively.
The Stronger Together Award recognizes women lawyers who demonstrate leadership and promote initiatives that have positively influenced their communities and are trailblazers in areas such as equity, diversity and inclusion; pro bono initiatives; and service to other community organizations.
Éloïse Gratton is a privacy pioneer widely known for her expertise. She regularly advises on best practices related to the monetization of big data, use of artificial intelligence, supports crisis management situations and protection of personal information. Eloïse has been quoted on several occasions by the Supreme Court of Canada on important privacy decisions, as well as Wall Street Journal and Fast Company Magazine in articles dealing with location tracking technology.
Nadia Effendi represents clients in both English and French in complex and high-profile proceedings including class actions, administrative, regulatory, constitutional and human rights law cases. In recent years, she acted as Lead Counsel for the Honourable Louise Arbour to carry out a review into the Canadian Armed Forces and Department of National Defence, ensuring equitable treatment to women. Nadia is keen on supporting social justice and policy reform and has participated in some of the most impactful judicial decisions in recent history. Earlier this year, Nadia was honoured by the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO) with the Order of Merit Award for her tireless efforts in promoting French-language legal services.
