Montréal (January 16, 2023) – Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) is thrilled to announce that the Honourable Jacques R. Fournier, retired Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Québec, has joined the firm’s Disputes Group as counsel. Jacques R. Fournier was appointed to the Superior Court of Québec in 2002. Following a period as judge at the Court of Appeal of Québec from 2011 to 2013, he became Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Québec in 2015.

A seasoned educator, including at the Québec Bar School, Jacques R. Fournier has conducted training seminars for newly appointed judges for several years. He has provided judicial education to Québec judges since 2008, and Canadian judges since 2015, as part of a joint program of the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice and the National Judicial Institute.
Mr. Fournier obtained his LL.L. from the Université de Montréal in 1977 and a B.A. in History in 1974 from the same institution. He is a board member of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies.
