Steve M. Winder appointed managing partner for the Vancouver office of BLG

Vancouver (March 9, 2021) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve M. Winder as Regional Managing Partner of the Vancouver office, effective March 1, 2021.

Over the course of his more than 25-year career, Steve has advised employers on a full range of labour and employment matters, including employment standards, workers compensation, human rights, dismissals and discipline, privacy, grievance arbitrations and collective bargaining. He has acted as counsel at all levels of court in British Columbia and Federal Court, and before various regulatory bodies, including the Human Rights Tribunal, Labour Relations Board, Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal, Employment Standards Tribunal and the Employment Insurance Commission.

Steve is succeeding Graham Walker, whom the Partnership Board recently appointed as the firm's new Group Head, Specialized Disputes.

In his new position, Steve is charged with continuing to drive the Vancouver office's achievement of its strategic objectives. While assuming the role of Regional Managing Partner, Steve will maintain his practice and continue his many professional engagements.

“On behalf of everyone in the firm, I wish to congratulate Steve on his appointment,” said John Murphy, BLG's National Managing Partner and CEO. “His breadth of experience and role as trusted adviser to some of the firm’s top clients makes him a strong fit for the position and well placed to enrich BLG’s focus on client service.”

With this new appointment, BLG Vancouver's team of committed professionals and staff members will continue to reinforce its impressive market position by delivering exceptional client service and providing high-value legal advice.
