Toronto (February, 13, 2020) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP senior associate Devin Persaud has received the FACL (Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers) Ontario Young Lawyer of the Year Award. He was presented with the award at the annual FACL gala in Toronto on Saturday night.
“I feel very humbled to receive this award,” he stated. “I’m grateful for all the great mentors I’ve had here at the firm that have helped guide me. I’m also thankful to SABA and FACL for supporting inclusiveness and diversity initiatives within the profession.”

As vice-president of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of Toronto, Devin helped create the SABA-Student Liaison Program and the SABA Student Scholarship. Devin also currently acts as chair of BLG’s MOSAIC affinity group, and dedicates a large portion of his time to the Malvern community in Scarborough as a youth mentor.
Previously Devin was a recipient of the 2019 Lexpert® Zenith Award Celebrating Change Agents in Law, and was SABA’s Student of the Year. He is an active member of the community and also sits on the Ontario Bar Association’s executive council.
