Amélie T. Gouin is a senior associate in our Montréal office. Ms. Gouin specialises in commercial litigation and practices mainly in the fields of competition law, advertisement and marketing, extraordinary recourses, shareholder disputes, fraud and intellectual property. Ms. Gouin also has a special interest for all litigation regarding false and misleading representations in the advertisement and marketing of consumer goods.
Ms. Gouin was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 2012 after completing her studies in civil law and common law at McGill University. In 2008, she also obtained an Honours Bachelor of Political Science degree at McGill University. During her studies in Law, Ms. Gouin was Editor and Executive Editor of the McGill Law Journal. She also completed a clerkship in 2010-2011 under the direction of Justices Pierre C. Gagnon and Michèle Monast of the Superior Court of Québec.
Since 2011, Ms. Gouin has been involved in the activities of the Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal. She has been on the Board of Directors of the Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal since 2013, acting as secretary from 2013 to 2016 and as the Chair of the Board from 2016 to 2018. She also sits on the Board of the École de Cirque de Verdun and is involved with Pour Trois Points.
Ms. Gouin is also active in the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy and has participated in organizing its annual conference since 2016. In addition, she serves as supervising lawyer for McGill’s Food and Agriculture Law Clinic.
Since 2017, Ms. Gouin has served as a lecturer for the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. There she gives a number of training sessions annually on the legal obligations of directors of not-for-profit organizations.
In 2018, Ms. Gouin was recipient of the "Administrateur de la Relève" Award at the 2018 "Gala Les Grands Prix de la Relève d'Affaires" organized by the "Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec". In 2016, the WXN – Women Executive Network awarded to Ms. Gouin the prize Top 100: Canada's Most Powerful Women in the category TELUS Future Leaders. Ms. Gouin was also a finalist in competing for the title of "Avocat(e) pro bono/implication sociale" at the Young Bar Association of Montréal Gala in 2013.
