Steve Warnett has a robust commercial disputes practice and is widely recognized as a leading counsel in corporate and securities disputes.
He regularly represents his clients in disputes involving corporations and their shareholders, including oppression proceedings, derivative actions, secondary market liability claims, proxy contests, plans of arrangement and corporate governance matters.
Steve has extensive experience in dealing with various securities regulators in both compliance and enforcement proceedings, including the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC).
His comprehensive securities litigation practice includes the defence of professional negligence and breach of fiduciary duty actions, class actions, shareholder actions, and other securities-related civil proceedings.
In addition to providing litigation representation, Steve provides practical and proactive advice to corporations and their Boards and Board committees.
Steve is also recognized for his work in domestic and international commercial arbitration and intellectual property litigation, among other areas. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Before being called to the bar, Steve completed a judicial clerkship with the Court of Appeal for British Columbia from 2000-2001.
