Brent is an experienced commercial leasing lawyer and is a member of the BLG Beyond Leasing team. Brent represents and advises national, regional, and entrepreneurial landlord and tenant clients with their commercial leasing matters across the entire lease lifecycle. In collaboration with his Beyond Leasing colleagues, Brent has specialized his practice in providing managed leasing services to landlord and tenant clients with lease portfolios to improve operational efficiency and consistency across their portfolio while reducing overall costs, including the development of lease precedents and workflow playbooks, negotiation of leases and ancillary documentation, and ongoing legal advice and support.
Brent has significant experience in drafting and negotiating leases across a broad range of property sectors, including retail, office, industrial, mixed-use, residential, and ground leasing. Brent also regularly advises and provides leasing-related support on business acquisition, disposition, and financing transactions, including lease due-diligence reviews.
Prior to joining BLG, Brent practiced in commercial real estate law and business law with a boutique firm in downtown Toronto. Brent also has a background in technology, having started his professional career as a software developer developing financial software applications for commercial real estate managers and landlords.
