Jennifer Ponton is a lawyer and Trademark Agent in the Intellectual Property Group. Jennifer's practice spans all areas of trademark law, including strategic counselling, management and enforcement. She has experience with domestic and international trademark acquisition, clearance, prosecution, litigation, enforcement and licensing.
As a Canadian Trademark Agent, Jennifer acts on behalf of local and foreign clients before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office to secure and defend trademark registrations, oppose applications, and cancel registrations. She also represents clients in trademark oppositions and section 45 non-use cancellation proceedings before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the Federal Court. In addition to Canadian trademark counselling, Jennifer works collaboratively with foreign agents to secure trademark rights for her clients abroad.
Jennifer also has considerable experience protecting brand owners' marks online, including across a variety of social media platforms and e-commerce sites.
Jennifer works with brand owners operating in a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, fashion and apparel, consumer goods manufacturing, food and beverage, information technology and retail fields, to build and protect their brands and reputations.
Before joining BLG in 2019, Jennifer was an associate at a top-tier intellectual property boutique firm in Toronto.
