Executive Summary

Do-Ellen Hansen is a partner in our Vancouver office. She provides complex research, analysis, and advice on diverse legal issues to private and Crown corporations, banks, government ministries, and insurers. She has experience and is comfortable working in both the business advisory and litigation environments.

Do-Ellen's practice  extends to corporate and commercial law, civil litigation, insurance law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. In the course of her practice, she regularly prepares legal opinions and analyses, litigation briefs, and legal arguments for trials, appeals, and arbitrations.

Representative Work

  • Team leader (common law jurisdictions) for comprehensive insurance policy-wording review project (commercial liability, commercial property, and related coverages) to assess legislative compliance and coverage risk issues for national insurance company.
  • Prepared argument on insurer subrogation issues arising out of complex product liability claim, which was settled favourably for our client, the claimant purchaser.
  • Provided advice and opinions to government corporations on legislative constraints and obligations, and related director/officer liability risks in respect of fiscal and business management decisions.
  • Prepared argument on complex equitable contribution and subrogation issues arising in personal injury and product liability litigation, which was settled favourably for our client, the defendant manufacturer.
  • Prepared insurance coverage opinions in respect of various liability and property policies.
  • Provided advice on legal risks of proposed deal structure involving up-stream change of control issues.
