Executive Summary

Andrew practices commercial real estate law, providing legal services to a large cross section of clients.

He provides practical, efficient and timely advice to his clients for all types of commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, leasing, joint venture and development arrangements and financing. 

Andrew works closely with real estate professionals and in-house legal counsel of some of Canada's largest commercial players, including Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust, Petro Canada Lubricants, Bell Canada, Circle-K and Stackpole to deal with their most important real estate issues. 

Andrew also works on key real estate developments for many of Ontario's Hospitals and Colleges, including Niagara Health System, Trillium Health Partners, Scarborough Health Network, and Mohawk College.

Representative Work

  • Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust with respect to a variety of its real property and corporate matters including the financing and refinancing of its large real estate portfolio.
  • Petro Canada Lubricants with respect to a variety real property matters concerning its refineries in Ontario and Newfoundland.
  • Forestland Group with respect to a significant acquisition of land in Ontario for logging activities.
  • Niagara Health System with respect to the sale of its facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake to the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in September, 2018.
  • Trillium Health Partners with respect to the purchase of a site for development in Mississauga, Ontario in 2018.
  • Muskoka Brewery with respect to a lease negotiation and significant upgrade of its home brewery in Bracebridge, Ontario in May, 2018.
  • Niagara Health System with respect to the purchase of the site for its new Regional Hospital in Niagara Falls, Ontario from the City of Niagara Falls in October, 2017.
  • Holly Frontier with respect to its acquisition of the Petro Canada Lubricants business from Suncor Energy.
  • Stackpole International with respect to the purchase of its manufacturing facilities in Ancaster, Mississauga and Stratford in various transactions in 2016 and 2017.
  • Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust with respect to its Plan of Arrangement transaction completed in 2015.
  • Public-private partnership arrangements for large infrastructure projects, from the perspective of both the public and private side of the arrangement.
  • Key stakeholders including private landowners, not-for-profit entities and funders on the development and structuring of Community Hubs.
  • Advised various Ontario public hospitals in connection with the transfer of its real property assets, liabilities and responsibility for operations to neighbouring public hospitals.
