Edgar Aguhar is a Patent Law Clerk in the Intellectual Property Department of the Ottawa office. He assists Patent Agents to meet the obligation under U.S. Patent Law to advise the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) of any known prior art that are relevant to a U.S. Patent application. He coordinates with clients for needed prior art and prepares and files Information Disclosure Statements in the USPTO. Edgar also assists the team with International (PCT) Application preparation and filing, and additional Law Clerk duties relating to foreign and U.S. practice.
Edgar has experience with Canadian Patent and Industrial Design applications, Canadian Trademark applications, Foreign Patent applications, United States Patent applications, US Inter Parties Review proceedings, and Canadian and United States patent litigation. Prior to joining BLG, he worked with technology companies and several law firms in Ottawa, either in the field of patent prosecution or litigation.
