Approximately one year ago, the Ontario Government announced its plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the Province’s electricity sector. As part of this review, the Government established the Ontario Distribution Sector Review Panel led by Murray Elston. The panel consulted with municipalities, local electric distribution companies (“LDCs”) and the Electricity Distributors Association (“EDA”), as well as other energy experts to review potential savings associated with consolidation, benefits for ratepayers, operational efficiencies and potential risks.
