Toronto (June 23, 2014)The Canadian College of Construction Lawyers has appointed Rick Shaban of Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) LLP as President at its annual general meeting.

“Rick’s appointment to President of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers is well deserved given his personal long-standing commitment to the College and his outstanding leadership in the area of construction and infrastructure law,” said Sean Weir, national managing partner and CEO.

The Canadian College of Construction Lawyers facilitates and encourages the association of outstanding lawyers who are distinguished for their skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice or teaching of construction law and who are dedicated to excellence in the specialized practice of construction law. Through the association of such members in an environment of collegiality and good fellowship, the College strives to nurture, improve and enhance the practice and understanding of construction law.

Mr. Shaban is a senior partner and past regional leader of BLG’s Construction and Engineering Group. He specializes exclusively in the areas of procurement, construction and surety law, including construction contracts and project delivery methods, public infrastructure renewal, dispute resolution, liens, construction insurance and surety bonds.

In addition to his new role as President of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, Mr. Shaban was also recognized in the 2014 editions of Chambers Global - The World's Leading Lawyers for Business (Construction), The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers (Construction Law), and   Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada (Construction Law).
