The Firm’s, Frank R. Foran, Q.C., counsel in BLG’s Calgary office, was honoured with Benchmark’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Frank, who has practised at the Firm for his entire career, is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group and the Calgary regional leader of BLG’s Appeal and Review Group. He was recognized for his pre-eminent legal career that has spanned over four decades. One of Canada’s most foremost litigators, his practice emphasizes corporate commercial litigation and arbitration related to energy, banking, securities, insolvency, general commercial and construction matters.

In 1988, Frank was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) by the Province of Alberta. He is also an appointed Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a status reserved for less than one per cent of all practising lawyers, and the Litigation Counsel of America.

Throughout his career he has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and the highest legal standards. His personal integrity has earned him the respect of lawyers and judges alike and he is regarded by his peers to be one of the country’s best litigators. I first worked with Frank on the Dome-Amoco deal in the 1980s. Frank was a leading litigator then as he is now. This award is very well-deserved.”
