Toronto (March 1, 2013) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) congratulates clients Pan American Silver Corp., the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and The Canadian Depository for Securities Limited (CDS) for their recognition at the 2013 Canadian Dealmakers® Awards.

In the Mining category, Pan American Silver Corp. was recognized for its $1.5 billion acquisition of Minefinders Corporation Ltd. BLG acted for Pan American with a team that included Fred Pletcher, Kent Kufeldt, Graeme Martindale, Michael Waters, Richard Bennett, Jeffrey Thomas, Martha Martindale, David Di Paolo and Kara Beitel. This is the second year in a row that BLG has advised on the Dealmakers’ Mining Deal of the Year.

In the Financials category, the Maple Group Acquisition Corporation won for its $3.8 billion takeover of TMX Group Inc. BLG represented the CPPIB, an investor in Maple, with a team that included Paul Findlay, Alfred Page and David Surat. The Firm also represented CDS, which was acquired by Maple as part of the transaction, with a team comprising Bob Hutchison, Jeff Barnes and Mark Lau.
