NRU Publishing Inc. today announced its 14th annual ranking of the GTA’s most prominent planning and development law firms and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) gained on its top 10 ranking last year, reaching number five on the top 10 list.  NRU examined Ontario Municipal Board decisions and stories from August 2011 to July 2012 and determined that BLG had surged ahead of last year’s ranking based on a number of important settlements and appeals at the Board.

BLG’s representation of York Region in a major hearing concerning employment lands, in the Richmond Hill official plan appeals, and in appeals of the York Region’s growth plan conformity amendment set the Firm apart. In addition, BLG was involved in appeals concerning the David Dunlap Observatory lands in Richmond Hill, and in other planning cases in York, Halton and Durham Regions.

The BLG lawyers named in the planning and development law ranking include Rick Coburn, Aimee Collier, Sean Gosnell, Christel Higgs, David Klacko, Gabrielle Kramer, Ian Mathany, Pitman Patterson, Frank Sperduti, Isaac Tang, Stephen Waqué  and Robert Wood.

In its annual rankings, the NRU examines the legal side of planning and development in the Greater Toronto Area, primarily focusing on cases that have come before the Ontario Municipal Board and have been reported in Novae Res Urbis.
