Honorary Title Conferred on Angus Gunn

Vancouver (December 17, 2012) — Law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Angus Gunn, a partner in BLG’s Vancouver office, has been appointed Queen’s Counsel. The designation is conferred on members of the legal profession to recognize exceptional merit, contribution, professional integrity and good character.

“The Queen’s Counsel designation is an incredible honour. Angus is a leader in his field, an upstanding member of the legal community and a key member of the firm. This distinction is well-deserved,” said Don Bird, regional managing partner of BLG’s Vancouver office.

Angus practises commercial dispute resolution with an emphasis on civil appeals and commercial arbitration. He serves as director and volunteer co-ordinator for the Access Pro Bono Society of B.C., has taught administrative law at UBC, and volunteers as a course chair, materials author and guest instructor for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia. In 2012, Angus was named by his peers as one of The Best Lawyers in Canada.
British Columbia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond announced the appointment following an advisory committee’s review of all nominations. The committee includes representation from the judiciary and from the Law Society of British Columbia, and also seeks the views of the B.C. branch of the Canadian Bar Association. The appointments were made by Cabinet through order-in-council. Of practising lawyers in B.C., no more than seven per cent can be designated Queen’s Counsel.
