OTTAWA (November 22, 2012) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is proud to announce that Marc Jolicoeur, regional managing partner of the Ottawa office, has been invested into the new Order of Ottawa for his role as a community advocate and for his contributions to community service.

Marc is a member of BLG’s National Council and National Management Committee and practises in the Corporate Commercial Group with special emphasis on servicing crown corporations, public institutions, charities and not-for-profit organizations. Marc has been an active member of many community organizations, including the Youth Services Bureau Foundation (incoming chair), University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Ottawa Community Foundation, United Way of Canada (former chair), United Way of Ottawa (former chair), BLG Reads to Kids, La Cité collégiale, and Le Regroupment des gens d'affaires d'Ottawa. Marc is also the longest serving chair in the University of Ottawa's history, providing his leadership to the school for almost two decades.

The Order of Ottawa recognizes citizen contributions in the many areas of city life, including arts and culture, business, community service, education, public service, labour, communications and media, science, sports and entertainment and other fields of endeavour that benefit the citizens of Ottawa. This year’s winners were chosen by a selection panel made up of the mayor, city clerk and solicitor, police chief, CEO of the public library, chief of protocol and chief archivist. A formal induction was held at city hall on Nov. 22, 2012.
