February 22, 2011 (Toronto) – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Canada 's largest full-service law firm, is strengthening and expanding its intellectual property expertise and experience with the addition of three seasoned IP lawyers. Justine Wiebe, Christine Pallotta and Scott Pundsack have all joined the Toronto office of BLG as partners, bringing their extensive practices and specialized knowledge to the IP team.

“This team is a great addition to the Toronto office as each brings along strong IP practices and will provide many synergies to the Firm,” said Frank Callaghan, regional managing partner of BLG's Toronto office. “BLG's clients will benefit from the additional senior IP talent while clients of the team will now have seamless access to all the legal services of a national law firm.”

“BLG is continually expanding its IP capabilities and depth across the country. We wanted to take an aggressive growth strategy for the Ontario market and this team fits the bill by adding significant strength in trademarks, patents and IP litigation,” said Joachim Fritz, national leader of BLG's Intellectual Property Group.

Justine, Christine and Scott each bring specialized knowledge in key areas of IP law. Justine has extensive experience with international trademark portfolios and pharmaceutical marks, providing clients with strategic guidance from a global perspective. Christine is a highly skilled litigator whose practice encompasses all fields of IP law, including pharmaceutical patent litigation and notice of compliance proceedings. And Scott is a registered patent agent who focuses on patent prosecution and licensing, including developing and managing worldwide protection and enforcement strategies for clients. He also has experience working within clean tech industries.

“When the three of us assessed client needs, we realized that BLG's platform would allow us to provide the optimum level of service to our existing and future clients," said Justine. “Now, at BLG, we can offer all the benefits of an IP boutique firm within a full-service law firm.”
