Vancouver (January 29th, 2008) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) has appointed Deborah Overholt to the position of Regional Managing Partner. Ms. Overholt will now be responsible for overseeing operations at the Firm’s Vancouver office, which includes a team of 375 lawyers, professionals and staff. In her new position she will also play a leadership role in the Firm nationally as a member of both the National Council and National Executive Committee.

Ms. Overholt became a partner at BLG in 1997. She possesses broad experience in the areas of environmental law, energy-related transactions and general commercial transactions. She has provided services to a number of high profile clients such as the British Columbia Railway Company and BC Hydro. Recently, Ms. Overholt acted as co-counsel to British Columbia Railway Company in a public-private transaction involving the sale of assets and a long-term operating lease for Vancouver Wharves.

Ms. Overholt has held a number of leadership positions with the Firm during her tenure. She has served as a member of several BLG management committees, including the Vancouver Regional Management, Compensation Advisory and Student Recruitment Committees. Most recently, Ms. Overholt served as head of the Corporate Commercial Practice Group in Vancouver. Ms. Overholt is also a member of the Business Council of British Columbia, serving on their Environmental Advisory Group.
