One of Canada's top corporate lawyers, Frank Callaghan, elected to post

TORONTO, January 27, 2009 – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP is pleased to announce that Frank Callaghan has been elected Regional Managing Partner of the firm's Toronto office. Effective January 1, 2009, Mr. Callaghan took over from Robert Bell whose term as managing partner ended on December 31, 2008.

'Frank is a leader by nature and BLG will benefit from his extensive management experience being on both the firm's Toronto Regional Management Committee and National Council, as well as his role as Toronto's Business Department leader,' says Sean Weir, BLG's National Managing Partner. 'Frank came to the firm in 1980 as an articling student, and knows the firm inside-out. He is highly regarded as a mentor by his associates.'

Named in the 2009 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada (in the area of Corporate Law) and Lexpert's American Lawyers Media Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, Frank practises corporate and commercial law with particular emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions and public and private company advice.

'It is my privilege to serve the firm in this role and I look forward to working with my colleagues in Toronto, and nationally, as we continue building on our successes,' said Frank Callaghan. 'With the current economic climate, BLG will continue to go to great lengths to best serve our clients, and seek out opportunities in 2009. I'm thrilled to take the lead in the Toronto office.'

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP would like to thank Robert Bell for his tireless dedication in helping reinforce the firm's strong Canadian presence, and growing international presence.

Frank was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1982. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1980.
