Toronto (August 9, 2016) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) congratulates Kylie Masse, competitive swimmer and winner of the 2016 BLG Awards, on her bronze medal win in the women's 100m backstroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Kylie's win is the fourth medal for Canada at the Rio Olympics. Earlier this year, she was named the 2016 Female BLG Award Winner of the Jim Thompson Trophy.

BLG will also be cheering on race walker Inaki Gomez, a former summer student at BLG who will be returning to the firm in November following his call to the British Columbia Bar. Inaki is co-captain of the Canadian Track & Field Team and will be competing in the 20km race walk on August 12. He previously competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he broke the Canadian record in the 20km race walk.

BLG is a long-standing supporter of Canada's amateur athletes, and has hosted the BLG Awards in partnership with Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) since 1993. The BLG Awards honour the top university athletes in the country and promote post-graduate studies at Canadian universities. Winners receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship to attend a Canadian graduate university and a trophy.
