The deal closed on April 17, 2003. In Canada, the merger involved obtaining the approval of the Competition Bureau and arranging for the divestiture of three pipeline products of the companies. Pharmacia Canada's in-house legal team was led by Amita Kent. Pharmacia was also represented by BLG, with a team that included Adam Fanaki and Ross DeBoni (competition), Paul Mingay (securities), Jim Elder (corporate), Randall Echlin and Matthew Certosimo (employment) and Sean Weir, Andrew Harrison, Freya Kristjanson, Markus Kremer and Sonia Mak (pensions).
