On August 1, 2017, St. Michael's Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Centre and Providence Healthcare amalgamated under the Corporations Act to form Providence St. Joseph's and St. Michael's Healthcare. This integration created the largest Catholic health network in Canada, with approximately 10,000 staff and an annual operating budget of approximately one billion dollars.
