The Paralegal will be an important member of the legal team working with the Financial Services Lawyers and Legal Support Staff to provide the highest level of client service while having the opportunity to develop their skills as part of a dynamic and successful national team. The ideal candidate must be a team player, have a strong work ethic, a mind-set of continuous improvement, and be a self-starter in a fast paced environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the desire and ability to identify problems and gaps, develop and design creative solutions and will have experience working in a Financial Services environment as a Paralegal at an intermediate to senior level.

The key responsibilities of these roles include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct and review due diligence searches (corporate, PPR, LTO, bankruptcy, etc).
  • Review credit agreements and other related documents to lending transactions.
  • Attend to registrations with LTO, PPR, Bank Act and other registries as required.
  • Coordinate with agents for searches and registrations.
  • Prepare security relating to financing (mortgages, security agreements, etc) and supporting documents.
  • Communicate with outside counsel, lenders, borrowers and others as required.
  • Attend to internal accounting and other funding matters.
  • Prepare opinions and reporting packages to lenders
  • Attend to all closing matters, prepare final reports, opinion letters and closing books

The key competencies required are:

  • A graduate of a recognized paralegal certificate or degree program or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience as a Financial Services Paralegal.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Windows-based computer systems including DocuSign, Closing Folders, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
  • Be well organized with strong analytical skills and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
