Purpose of the Role

The Consultant, Business Transformation in the Project Management Office (PMO) will be expected to lead and/or support initiatives by identifying areas of opportunity to improve performance, developing recommendations to address the needs and effectively implementing the changes to ensure project benefits are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead and/or support the execution and implementation of business transformation and technology driven initiatives in accordance with defined BLG standards and approaches
  • Lead and/or support the elicitation and validation of business requirements
  • Define and execute the project delivery approach based on the business group
  • Prepare and/or support the preparation of business cases, project charters, project plans, organizational change readiness assessments, presentations and other related materials as needed in accordance with defined BLG standards and at the appropriate audience level
  • Identify, analyze and document gaps between current and desired end state, identify opportunities for business standardization, simplification and automation
  • Develop recommendations to stakeholders on changes related to business practices, processes and organizational structures that align with overall Firm strategic objectives
  • Develop effective communications tailored to the specific audience
  • Develop relationships and collaborate effectively with other staff members across the Firm to deliver initiatives and achieve sustainable benefits

Key Competencies

  • Extensive experience conducting organizational effectiveness assessments, developing and implementing the recommendations
  • Extensive experience analyzing and implementing business process improvements
  • Extensive experience in business analysis, including elicitation and management of business requirements
  • Superior analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated capability in organizational change management
  • Demonstrated capability in project management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; with strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Established knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Visio and MS Project
  • Post-secondary education
  • Experience working in a legal or professional services environment considered an asset
  • Experience working in a consulting services role considered an asset
  • Travel may be required (up to 10 per cent)
