Natalia Rodriguez is a Senior Associate in the Construction Group at BLG's Ottawa office. Natalia practices civil litigation and dispute resolution with an emphasis on construction and engineering matters. She has acted for and advised clients on a variety of civil actions relating to tort and contract claims.
From 2012-2014, Natalia served as Commission Counsel for the Elliot Lake Commission of Inquiry investigating the collapse of the Algo Centre Mall and the subsequent emergency response.
Natalia currently advises a number of institutions, including hospitals, colleges and municipalities, in all aspects of construction-related matters, including litigating lien, trust, delay, deficiency and warranty claims. She has acted on large infrastructure litigation actions and has also represented contractors, subcontractors, owners, and condominium corporations. She provides contract negotiation, drafting and course of construction interpretation advice as needed.
Natalia is experienced in conducting trials as well as appeals and judicial reviews. She has advocated on behalf of clients at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal of Ontario, and in commercial arbitration proceedings.
Prior to joining BLG, Natalia clerked for three justices of the Court of Appeal of Ontario and for Justice Louis LeBel at the Supreme Court of Canada. She was awarded the Silver Medal in Law by Queen's University Law School for achieving the second highest overall academic standing in her graduating class.
