Julie Hopkins is a senior commercial litigator with 25 years of arbitration, litigation and administrative law experience. She assists clients with complex and technical disputes involving diverse subject matter as oil & gas, insurance, employment, corporate and constitutional law. She has extensive appellate experience and has acted as agent for the Federal Crown prosecuting offences under federal statutes including the Income Tax Act and Excise Act.
As well as sitting as a commercial arbitrator, Julie is a grievance arbitrator and unjust dismissal adjudicator under the Canada Labour Code and for a number of years she was a Panel Chair on the Insurance Councils Appeal Board. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“CIArb”) and is a Director and Secretary of the CIArb’s Canada Branch. She has served as a tutor for the Accelerated Route to Fellowship programme designed for experienced arbitrators and arbitration practitioners seeking recognition of their status as Fellows of the CIArb.
