Taha Hassan is an associate in the Insurance and Tort Liability Group of BLG’s Toronto office. He has a civil litigation practice focusing on defending police services from tort liability actions and claims of alleged Charter violations, and defending municipalities from actions involving non-repair of roads and sidewalks and occupiers’ liability. He also defends manufacturers and other large institutions from a wide variety of legal claims, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, and tort liability.
In addition to his civil litigation practice, Taha also advises retirement homes and landlords on various aspects of landlord-tenant law, including their obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act and the Retirement Homes Act. He also has experience representing clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Taha’s previous legal experience includes working and volunteering at a number of legal clinics, where he represented clients before various administrative tribunals and practiced in the areas of constitutional law, landlord-tenant law, refugee and immigration law, and workers’ compensation.
Taha summered and articled with BLG before joining the Firm as an Associate in 2018. During his articles, Taha was seconded to the Bank of Nova Scotia.
