Marlena is the firm's in-house counsel, with a focus on risk and conflicts.
She has a background in civil litigation and previously practiced in our specialized litigation group, with an emphasis on:
- large infrastructure disputes
- professional negligence claims
- access to information
- commercial and general liability matters
Marlena has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and arbitral tribunals in various jurisdictions. She has also acted in Judicial Review applications of Veteran's Review and Appeal Board decisions regarding pension and entitlement matters before the Federal Court of Canada.
Marlena now applies her advocacy background to assist our professionals with the determination of conflicts of interest, mitigation of risk, the use of technology assisted review and AI, data protection, professional liability matters and regulatory compliance, amongst other things.
