Christopher Bredt leads fourth Summit for Literacy
Toronto (June 15, 2018) — The members of BLG have long been champions of children’s literacy. No one better represents this value than senior litigation partner Christopher Bredt who will once again be leading a team of climbers up Mount Kilimanjaro in the fourth Summit for Literacy. In partnership with CODE, Christopher and a team of climbers will strive for the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in a fundraising effort to help more than 1 million children per year access quality education and literacy opportunities.
Since the first climb in 2006, the Summit of Literacy climbs have taken place every 4 years with a total of 34 climbers having helped to secure over $2 million in support of this inspiring cause. In 2010 Sean Weir, BLG’s National Managing Partner joined the climb and made it to the summit.
CODE is one of Canada’s leading international development organizations and has been focused on advancing literacy and education in a number of African countries for over 50 years. Christopher Bredt is a past Chair of CODE and recipient of the CODE Director’s Award is given to individuals who make outstanding efforts to promote literacy. He has been involved with the CODE since 1996, and has served on the CODE Board as its Chair from 2005-2007, and on the Board of the Foundation — serving as its Chair from 2000-2005. He continues to serve as a Director of the CODE Foundation.
