Three BLG Partners Recognized at 2018 Lexpert® Zenith Awards

Toronto (June 20, 2018) — We are fortunate at BLG to be working with some of the brightest legal minds in Canada and are pleased to announce that three of our partners, Cynthia (Cindy) Clarke, Subrata Bhattacharjee and Mathieu Piché-Messier, have been recognized at this year’s Lexpert® Zenith Awards – Celebrating Mid-Career Excellence.

Cindy Clarke is BLG’s National Group Head for Specialized Litigation, overseeing more than 210 lawyers in the firm’s five national litigation groups: Health LawLabour and EmploymentInsurance and Tort LiabilityConstructionEnvironmentalMunicipalExpropriation and Regulatory. Cindy also maintains a robust Health Law practice and has been recognized with the Women’s Executive Network Canada’s Most Powerful Women Award. She is the co-author of a book titled Law for Canadian Healthcare Administrators. She is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where she teaches the Masters in Health Law program and is a regular speaker at conferences and continuing education courses.

As the National Vice Chair of the Competition and Foreign Investment Review Group, Subrata Bhattacharjee is consistently recognized as one of Canada’s leading competition/antitrust lawyers. A power-house in competition law, foreign investment regulation and regulatory litigation, Subrata has advised on some of Canada’s largest mergers, defended clients in domestic and international cartel investigations, and provided strategic regulatory advice to domestic and global corporations.

A leader in our Montreal office, Mathieu Piché-Messier is the Regional Group Manager of the Commercial Litigation Group. He was inducted as a fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) in 2018, an invitation-only fellowship in a selection by peers. He has an active civil and commercial litigation practice focusing on commercial fraud, high technology, industrial espionage, identity theft, competition law, entertainment law and intellectual property rights enforcement. He has acted for plaintiffs in seizures before judgment, injunctions (including the Anton Piller, Mareva and Norwich injunctions) and orders. Mathieu is also involved as a member of the board of directors of several organizations such as The Cirque Éloize, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal and the Centre d'accès à l'information juridique du Québec (CAIJ).

Winners were recognized at a gala held in Toronto on June 19. Lorne Sossin, Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School was the keynote speaker at the event.
