BLG welcomes Ian to our Commercial Litigation Group
Toronto (December 17, 2018) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) welcomes Ian Matthews as the newest partner to the firm’s internationally recognized Commercial Litigation Group.
"Ian is a hardworking litigator focused on achieving the best possible results for his clients. He brings with him experience before the highest levels of court and a record of strong legal counsel. We are eager to have him join our team," said BLG’s National Group Head David Di Paolo.
Ian’s extensive experience in complex commercial litigation and class action matters includes cases before the Supreme Court of Canada, Ontario Court of Appeal and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. His practice focuses on complex litigation, class action, and appellate matters. He serves a wide variety of clients including individuals, public institutions, Canadian corporations and foreign multinationals.
A graduate of the Master of Laws program at Harvard Law School, Ian built his practice at some of the leading litigation firms in Toronto and New York. From 2010-11, he served as a law clerk to the Honourable Madam Justice Deschamps at the Supreme Court of Canada.
As an active volunteer at Pro Bono Ontario, Ian stands as a strong representative of the firm’s commitment to community service.
