Heather advises and advocates for clients in the health sector.

Heather provides advice to health care organizations on a wide range of issues, including physician credentialing, risk management, policy, regulatory college matters and end of life issues. Heather's disputes practice is focused on medical malpractice, administrative law and public law matters.

Prior to practicing law, Heather obtained her Master of Health Administration degree and worked with legal, risk and quality teams at health organizations in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Experience

  • Defends hospitals and health care providers in medical malpractice and other civil lawsuits.
  • Inquests into the deaths of G.H. Ryan and W.R. Ryan - Representing Northumberland Hills Hospital.
  • Represents Chiefs of Staff and Medical Advisory Committees in physician credentialing proceedings.
  • Represents regulated health professionals before their governing administrative bodies in responding to complaints against them, and in reviews of complaints decisions before the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.
