The January 18, 2002 decision of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal in Citron and others v. Zündel, T460/1596 is the first case to apply the Canadian Human Rights Act (the "Act") to hate messages communicated through an Internet Web site. The Tribunal held that the Internet is "subject to the rule of law in diverse ways", and concluded that hate messages communicated through the Internet were prohibited by the Act.
