- On May 17, 2005, the Province of Alberta amended its Business Corporations Act (the ABCA) to modernize its corporate legislation in a manner that now makes it consistent with most other North American jurisdictions. At the same time, Alberta took the opportunity to add a number of provisions to permit the incorporation, continuance and amalgamation of unlimited liability corporations, or ULCs as they are often known, in Alberta.
