Executive Summary

Tommy Tremblay is a partner at our Montréal office and a member of the Commercial Litigation Group. He is involved in all types of commercial litigation, but his practice focuses on corporate governance (including directors' and officers' liability), competition matters, as well as administrative inquiries and interactions with regulatory authorities. He is the regional leader of the Antitrust and Competition Group and of the Public Policy and Government Relations Group for the Montréal office.

Representative Work

  • Tommy advises directors and officers on corporate governance, including their duties and obligations in relation to the different groups affected by their decisions (shareholders, creditors, employees, etc.), as well as their adherence to applicable statutory obligations.
  • He also represents and advises clients on competition matters. In addition to advising clients (both corporations and individuals) on their obligations under competition rules, Tommy represents different entities in defending class actions based on the Canada Competition Act.
  • He participates in the development of compliance programs within companies so that they can ensure that their employees and managers comply with statutory norms and exercise their control diligently.
  • He regularly assists his clients during investigations conducted by regulatory authorities and contributes to the implementation of internal investigation protocols for corporate clients who suspect their employees or managers of having committed wrongdoings (non-compliance with regulatory norms, fraud, etc.).
  • He pleads before various decision-making bodies, including administrative tribunals, the Superior Court and the Québec Court of Appeal.

  • For several years, Mr. Tremblay has served as a speaker for Federated Press in its annual conferences on "Directors' and Officers' Liability" and "Reinventing the Corporate Secretary".
  • He acts as a trainer in the university certification program in corporate governance offered by the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés.
  • For several years, he has served as trainer in the Réseau des jeunes administrateurs training program provided by the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal and the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal (CRÉ).
  • He lectures annually for the Canadian Bar Association – Québec Division, together with other lawyers, in preparing a list of major decisions in commercial disputes.
  • He regularly provides in-house training to clients on competition law, internal investigation processes in cases of fraud or irregularities, and Québec's rules governing lobbying.
