Heather Sonser is a paralegal with the Corporate Commercial Group specializing in Competition Law in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Heather became a licensed paralegal with the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2014, with a background in Municipal Law. She has experience working in various aspects including municipal prosecutions, bylaw application and enforcement, and alternative dispute resolution measures.
Within the Competition Law Group, Heather focuses on compliance matters with respect to competition and regulatory authorities, as well as investigating corporate transactions.
Heather's responsibilities relate to all aspects of managing a litigation file, including forensic computer examinations; document management and reporting; preparation of pleadings and briefs; summarizing evidence at the discovery and trial stages; trial preparation; and performing legal research. Heather also has experience in a variety of electronic document management programs and database management.
Heather's scope of knowledge includes the Competition Act, Competition Tribunal Act, Competition Tribunal Rules, Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Courts Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Supreme Court Act, and the Rules of the Supreme Court of Canada.
