Janzel is a paralegal in the Insurance and Tort Liability Department of our Vancouver office. Janzel assists the Firm’s lawyers with insurance defence work, particularly transportation, aviation, and automobile defence, and life and disability claims. Janzel also has experience with marine defence, professional negligence claims, commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, and oil and gas matters.
Janzel assists with a wide variety of matters, including drafting pleadings, fact gathering and analysis, preparing for discoveries, motions, mediations, and trial, conducting legal research, assessing quantum, and communicating with clients and related parties. Her experience includes assisting the Firm’s lawyers in managing large, complex cases involving voluminous document discovery.
Janzel’s scope of knowledge includes British Columbia Small Claims Court, British Columbia Supreme Court and Federal Court procedure, motor vehicle insurance, healthcare costs recovery, and workers’ compensation legislations.
Prior to joining BLG, Janzel interned at International Rights Advocates, a non-profit international human rights litigation group based in Washington, D.C., where she assisted senior international human rights lawyers in litigation against U.S. corporations for violations under the Alien Tort Statute, the Torture Victim Protection Act, and various state laws.
