Barrie is Counsel to our Commercial Real Estate group in Calgary. In addition to being a trusted advisor to his clients in all facets of business law, Barrie practices in the area of Real Estate Law, acting for Brokers, Agents, Vendors, Purchasers, Landlords and Tenants with respect to the purchase, sale, financing and leasing of commercial properties. Barrie’s clients include local, national and international concerns who are involved in all areas of real estate and as such, Barrie is engaged, on a daily basis, in the review, negotiation, drafting and enforcement of all real estate related documentation, including offers to purchase, options, rights of first refusal, and lease agreements. Barrie is routinely called upon to advise his clients on appropriate options and strategies having regard to the current state of the law and changing market conditions.
In addition to authoring “Demystifying the Lease Document – a Practical Guide for Property Managers, Brokers and Commercial Real Estate Professionals” and conducting numerous leasing workshops and in-house training programs for his clients, Barrie has been a guest lecturer at the University of Calgary, both in the Faculties of Law and Continuing Education.
Barrie brings with him a no-nonsense, hands-on, practical approach to the law and to Real Estate matters and is able to quickly identify issues, formulate appropriate solutions and effectively implement decisions.
Barrie is actively involved in mentorship and personal development, has travelled extensively in Europe, Asia and North America, and is an avid golfer and reader.
