Erin Penney is a paralegal within the Corporate Commercial Group in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP since 2010. Erin became a licensed paralegal with the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2010. Erin has significant experience in litigation on both plaintiff and defence matters since 2007, and currently has specific focus on Competition and Anti-trust law.
Erin’s experience in Canadian competition law includes a variety of work with respect to mergers and acquisitions and abuse of dominance. Erin’s main concentration is in multi-jurisdictional criminal anti-trust investigations. Erin has assisted and managed cartel investigations involving auto-parts, retail gasoline, airline cargo services, polyurethane foam and various other manufacturing and retail sectors.
Erin’s responsibilities include assisting with a variety of litigation files and competition investigations, which involve data collection by means of forensic computer examinations, identifying issues and relevant documents to the investigation, evidence and database management, and witness preparation and interviews. Erin also has experience drafting pleadings, memoranda and other legal documents, conducting legal research, and has appeared in Small Claims Court.
