Executive Summary

Meghan Payne is a senior associate at the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, practicing with the Health Law Group. She is also a member of the Firm’s Team North Group®. Meghan acts as counsel to healthcare institutions and their employees, including hospitals and healthcare clinics, in defending personal injury, medical malpractice, and occupier’s liability claims. In addition, Meghan has a mental health law practice and regularly appears before the Ontario Review Board and Consent and Capacity Board.

Meghan was a summer student and articling student at BLG prior to joining the Firm as an associate in 2012. During law school she received the Fasken Martineau Dumoulin LLP Public Law Prize.

Representative Work

  • Represents hospitals, healthcare clinics and community care access centres, and their employees, in medical malpractice and other civil lawsuits.
  • Advises healthcare institutions on compliance with healthcare legislation and proposed institutional policies.
  • Represents forensic mental health facilities before the Ontario Review Board.
